IOTA SIGMA PI is a national honor society for women that promotes professional development and personal growth of women in chemistry and related fields through recognition, public outreach, and the formation of supportive networks.
The major objectives of the society are:
to promote interest in chemistry among women students,
to foster mutual advancement in academic, business, and social life,
and to stimulate personal accomplishment in chemical fields.
IOTA SIGMA PI was founded in 1902 and was organized on a nation-wide basis in 1916. Since that time, over 10,000 members have been initiated into this organization with more than 40 local chapters in various colleges, universitites and metropolitan areas.

Membership consists of women chemists from both industry and academia, as well as graduate and undergraduate chemistry students.
Members-at-Large are those members residing outside the area where an active chapter exists. We participate in the organization and elect our own delegates to the triennial convention.
